2027 Election: ‘Why Every Northerner Owes Tinubu A Vote,’ Prominent APC Member Shares

FCT, Abuja – Habibu Mayana Bello, a prominent member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has said every northerner owes President Bola Tinubu a vote in the 2027 election.

Bello stated that Nigerians are going to vote based on the situation in the country and on verifiable results of governance as far as the Tinubu administration is concerned.

APC’s Bello backs Tinubu

He expressed his firm belief that President Tinubu will win the 2027 election because he (Tinubu) was immense in former President, late Muhammadu Buhari’s ascension to the presidency.

Bello wrote on his verified X (formerly Twitter) page on Wednesday, September 24:

“Since 2003, it has been the dream of almost every Northerner for Buhari to become President of Nigeria. However, that dream could not be realized by the North alone.

“We needed votes from the South as well. Buhari failed multiple times until Tinubu joined forces with him in 2013, offering support financially and with all his power, from the primaries to the general elections.

“In 2019, many Northern politicians, led by Atiku, abandoned Buhari in their pursuit of power, but Tinubu remained loyal and stood by him.

“Now, it is time for compensation. We, the Northerners, must support Tinubu at all costs come 2027.”

How Tinubu fared in 2023

Legit.ng recalls that Tinubu scored 8,794,726 votes in the 2023 election. His closest rival, Atiku Abubakar, then of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), scored 6,984,520 votes to emerge second in the election. Labour Party’s Peter Obi got a total of 6,101,533 votes while Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) came fourth with 1,496,687 votes.

Tinubu, the candidate of the APC secured the highest number of votes and a breakdown of data shows that he gained more votes than his rivals in three out of the six geopolitical zones. Tinubu won in his south-west home; north-west and north-central.

In the three other regions he did not win, the former APC national leader came second. This gave him the spread to be the only candidate that gained 25 percent of votes in 29 states. Tinubu also won at least one state in each of the regions except south-east.

2027 election: APC confident of victory

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that ahead of the 2027 election, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, national chairman of the APC, said the party is ready for the polls.

Yilwatda stressed that no force can stop the APC from winning the presidential, governorship, and other seats in Nigeria.

The APC leader dismissed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition’s chances, describing the President Tinubu administration as superb.
