What Recruiters Look For and Don’t Look For When They Scan Resumes
Here are three very easy things that you can do to improve your LinkedIn profile and get better results from it. I’m Jeff Alen the big game hunter. People hire me for no BS job search coaching and career advice globally because I make the process of finding work and succeeding at it much easier.
Number one is update your picture. No one wants to see a five sixy old image of you. Get it more current. After all, the definition from five years ago was probably SD. Go for an HD photo of yourself. Also update the picture behind you—that background image. You can get images from a lot of sites without ripping them off. Don’t do a Google search and try and steal a picture. There are free image sites out there like Unsplash, Pixels, Pixabay that will help you with free background images.
Number two, work on the headline underneath your name because that’s again among the first things people see. Look for something along the lines of instead of unemployed or looking for work or open to work. Instead, put in something about your impact on an organization. For me, people hire me for no BS job search coaching and career advice globally, etc., etc.. You might have something along the lines of, “you know, I help organizations make money by filling the blank” or “save money by filling in the blank”. “You know, would you like to reduce costs by 15% like I’ve done for other firms? Contact me”. Something along those lines is far more productive than saying that you’re unemployed.
The third thing is add real numbers under each job description for your work in your on your profile instead of just leaving it vague. Give real numbers because firms want to imagine that that’s what you can do for.
