Alleged INEC 2025 Recruitment: What Applicants Must Know Before Proceeding

FCT, Abuja – The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has denounced a viral advertorial making waves on social media that the Commission is recruiting for some job vacancies.

INEC described the news as false and advised the public against being deceived by fraudsters who are carrying out the notice.

“Our attention has been drawn to a fake advertorial currently circulating on social media, giving the impression that INEC is recruiting for various positions. The Commission IS NOT recruiting. Do not fall victim to the antics of criminal elements,” INEC stated in a public notice.

Details of the fake recruitment advert

The duplicated notice under the INEC banner requested application for employment in the Registration Area Officers (RAOs) and professional positions at Grade Levels 07 to 14.

It called for candidates to possess qualifications from NCE and National Diploma through to HND, Bachelor, and Master degrees in the respective areas.

It also specified general requirements like Nigerian citizenship, certificate of state of origin, computer literacy, and medical fitness certificate. Age limits of 35 years for entry-level positions and 45 years for experienced hires were also included.

Fake application portal exposed

The imposter notice asked job applicants to apply via a portal — www.inecrecruitment.com that has been confirmed by INEC to be false.

The Commission explained that they don’t have such a site and asked the public to desist from sharing their information via scam sites.

INEC urges public vigilance

INEC also begged Nigerians to use only its official communication platforms for veritable information on recruitment or other official information.

The Commission reiterated that there is no recruitment exercise underway and advised members of the public to remain vigilant.

INEC releases details of voter registration

Previously, Legit.ng reported that INEC had announced the latest figures of the ongoing nationwide online and in-person voter registration.

The electoral body said 4,445,505 Nigerians had pre-registered online in four weeks since the exercise was launched on August 18, 2025.

Police deny 2025 recruitment excercise

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has dismissed a viral notice circulating on social media about a purported 2025 recruitment exercise.

The notice, which claimed that applications would commence on Monday, 22 September 2025, has been labelled fake by the Force.

The fake notice alleged that the Nigeria Police Force intended to inform the general public about a 2025 recruitment exercise for suitably qualified candidates, scheduled to commence on Monday, 22 September. According to the false information, applications were to be invited from Nigerians with SSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB certificates with at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, as well as OND, HND, and B.Sc. holders from recognised institutions in relevant disciplines.
