Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, is participating in the 2025 United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, joining global leaders, diplomats, policymakers, and business executives.
On Tuesday, he attended the “Ghana Reset” programme, an event focused on innovative financing models to bolster Ghana’s health sector, at the invitation of Ghana’s President, John Mahama.
Diri shared details of his trip on X, noting the presence of notable figures at the event, including Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley, former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, and World Trade Organisation Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
As part of his UNGA schedule, Diri will deliver a keynote address on Thursday at the High-Level Roundtable on the Gulf of Guinea, an event significant for Bayelsa’s economic growth due to its strategic location along the Atlantic Ocean.
He emphasized his administration’s commitment to leveraging opportunities for the state’s economic development and prosperity through its maritime resources.
