The Lagos State Police Command has opened an investigation into the mysterious death of two young men whose bodies were discovered in a canal along the LASU-Igando Road in the Iba area of the state.
It was gathered that the corpses, found in the early hours of Tuesday, had their hands tied behind their back, with blue trash bags knotted tightly around their necks. This is fuelling suspicion that they might have been tortured and suffocated before being dumped.
According to Punch, a source said the killings appeared ritualistic.
“I was passing the place yesterday (Tuesday) when I saw some residents gathered at the bridge. The bodies were so clean. It is obvious that they were killed somewhere else and dumped.
“It looks as if they were also tortured because their hands were tied behind them and trash bags were tight around their necks.”
The gruesome discovery comes at a time when the state is grappling with a wave of cult-related violence despite mass arrests and the redeployment of divisional police officers across the state.
