What Recruiters Know That You Don’t: The Importance of Tailoring
One thing recruiters know that job hunters seem not to know is that they’re not all that effective. And you find that out by looking at the data. Somewhere between applying for jobs and recruiters, at most, both categories together fill 30% of positions. Now, I see numbers like 22% from job ads, 8% from recruiters. I know some recruiters use job ads, so I just lumped the entire two categories together, but they’re not all that effective.
What is effective? Networking, not applying for jobs online. Networking. Yet most of you spend 60% of your time applying for jobs and very little time networking. You seem to be spending a lot of time complaining that you’re not getting results. And that’s why you’re not getting results. You’re not talking to people that you know to find out about people who they know that you don’t, who might be able to help.
